Published pages can be crawled by search engines, but registering them with Search Console and submitting a sitemap speeds up indexing and lets you check impressions and clicks in search. Sotomuke performs this registration automatically and displays the results on your dashboard.
If You Publish on a Subdomain (Standard)
Once your public hostname (e.g., global.example.co.jp) becomes active, Sotomuke automatically does the following. No action is required on your part.
- Inserts Google's ownership verification meta tag (
google-site-verification) into the served pages and verifies ownership of the propertyhttps://global.example.co.jp/. - Registers the property in Search Console and
https://global.example.co.jp/sitemap.xml. - Every day, retrieves search impressions, clicks, and average position by language, country, and search query, and displays them under "Search Performance" on the dashboard (Google's data is delayed by 2–3 days).
If you would also like to check the data in your own Search Console, register your original site as a "Domain" property (e.g., example.co.jp). Subdomains are included automatically, and no additional ownership verification is required.
If You Serve Pages Directly Under Your Own Domain (example.co.jp/en/)
Because the URLs that appear in search results are on your domain, Sotomuke reads data from your Search Console property. Please complete the following one-time setup.
- In Search Console, open the relevant property (the domain property for
example.co.jp, orhttps://example.co.jp/). - Go to "Settings" → "Users and permissions" → "Add user," and add the service account email address shown under "Search Performance" on the dashboard with "Restricted" permission.
- On the dashboard, click "Verify Integration."
What the sitemap includes
It includes every page in every language, along with hreflang information indicating the relationships between languages. When you update your original site and Sotomuke reflects the changes, the sitemap is updated automatically as well.
What to check
- Language-specific URLs will be indexed within a few days to a few weeks after registration. A good indicator is when impressions under "Search Performance" start to increase.
- Viewing impressions by country shows you which languages are growing.
- There is no need to worry about duplicate content. Each page is linked to the others through canonical and hreflang tags, which is the multilingual site structure recommended by Google.
